Paulina Pikiewicz – sound artist: documentary and radio drama author, sound designer, podcaster, journalist, illustrator, and creator of sound installations. She is a PhD student at the Institute of Musical Arts of the University of Silesia, specializing in sound production. She lectures at the Academy of Music in Katowice.
She graduated in philosophy from the Jagiellonian University and in film and television production management from the Univeristy Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski in Krakow. Graduate of radio directing at the Wajda School and the Polish Radio Theatre.
She is the co-founder and general manager of the online Radio Klang and the Kulminacja Foundation, which promotes sound art. As a radio presenter, she has collaborated with Polish Radio Program 2, Polish Radio Katowice, the Polish Radio Theatre, and Radio Kapitał, among others. As a radio play creator, she has collaborated with the AUKSO Chamber Orchestra of Tychy, Katowice City of Gardens, the Silesian Museum in Katowice, the National Radio Symphony Orchestra (NOSPR), and the Katowice Department of Sound, among others. As a journalist, she regularly contributes to the contemporary art magazine “Glissando.” Organizer and initiator of numerous events in the field of sound culture and art, including the Katowice Dialogue Festival and the public listening to the socially engaged reportage “Miasto-czucie”
I have a master’s degree in philosophy at the Jagiellonian University.
I defended my bachelor’s degree in film and television production at the Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski Krakow University.
I completed a radio directing postgraduate studies at the Wajda School in Warsaw and the Polish Radio Theater.
I gained radio experience in student radio stations. These were: Radio Frycz, Radio 17, Radio Ujot.fm.
In 2018-2021, I worked as a reporter at Polish Radio Katowice, where I was a cultural journalist, and made audio documentaries. In 2019/2020 I was the editor and co-host of the youth program – “Czas na nas”. In 2018-2021, I created cultural podcasts for Polish Radio Channel 2 and the Radio Folk Culture Center.
In 2019, I worked at Radio Kapitał, where I co-hosted, together with Weronika Stencel, the podcast called “PĘPĘPĘ”.
I am a co-founder of the community radio station, which I developed and ran as the main manager together with Weronika Stencel. In addition, I produced my podcasts on Radio Klang – “Złoty karczoch”, “Zawód: reporter”, “PĘPĘPĘ (together with Weronika Stencel), and I also curated the special podcasts series – “Audio drama in Klang”, “It comes to Klang”, “Klang in the field”, “Ear set on the museum”. The station ended broadcasting on 25.03.2023. The entire history of the station has been written down here:
I am a co-founder of the Culmination Foundation, which has been supporting radio and sound art since 2021 by helping to produce and promote all sound creative manifestations. For two years, he has been running the artistic and educational project Sound Daycare together with Radosław Sirko.
In addition – as an individual culture manager and audio creator – I regularly collaborate with Foundation Einai. We produced together e.g. the Festival of dialogue, the social reportage “Miasto-czucie”, and the series of philosophical podcasts called “Agora”.
