Sound Daycare

“Hi, we’re the Sound Daycare from Katowice, Poland. We create a safe space for sound experimentation, where you can let loose and gain knowledge that will be useful in your future work with all forms of audio.

The Sound Daycare will ultimately be a space combining the functions of an open studio, an amateur studio, and an audio workshop. Depending on the project, the place will be used for carefree work and play, including recording, producing, and editing sound, as well as equipment testing, improvising, and performing.

The Sound Daycare’s main theme is a shift away from the technical and professionalized audio discourse toward the sound of a preschool, playground, or scout troop. The Sound Daycare’s project is aimed at young people who aspire to pursue audio in the future.

For artists who are just beginning their musical journey. We invite journalists and broadcasters who want to learn the secrets of recording podcasts, documentaries, and audio plays, as well as anyone interested in music and sound but unsure how to approach them.”

So far, we have organised summer camps at the Katowice Sound Office, workshops during the A>festival at the Szałfynster gallery, workshops for children at the WRO Art Centre, created audio plays, a series of educational workshops and an audio performance in cooperation with the City Museum in Tychy.

Do you have an idea for a collective activity? Would you like to share your equipment for shared play? Would you like to run workshops? Want to meet and experiment? Want to build a Community Center with us? Contact us: paulina.pikiewicz@gmail.com / radeksirko@gmail.com
