At the Black Woolf Coffee in Katowice(luty – maj 2023)

I was inspired to write the exhibition title by the work of the painter Teresa Pągowska, whom I met while visiting the exhibition “Deeper Than My Knowing” at the State Art Gallery in Sopot. The phrase, Pągowska’s statement, cited in the curatorial description, has resonated with me since the moment I encountered her paintings. I constantly ask myself: “What lies beyond my knowing?” What lies hidden in the depths of the body? How does this abyss speak? With gesture? With sign? With sound? Why does it make itself felt? Is it friendly or hostile? These reflections require spelunking experience. Emotional speleology, completed with markers. The photos below are by Bastek Łąkas.
