audio series in the making. We already have 3 out of 6 episodes. Please get in touch with me, if you want to help us finish the story.
The audio documentary series “My Big Skate Story” presents the fate of the skater community from the Monument to Mining Toil in Katowice. In the first episode we follow 10-year-old Blanka and Remik – the girl’s father and coach. A successful young skateboard star returns to regular training after suffering a serious injury. Her damaged faith in her own abilities is healed by the girl’s awakening spirituality.
The first episode of our audio series “My Big Skejt Story” was the nominee in the Audionomia Awards 2024 competition and received an award in the sound design category. The episode “Dad and Daughter” presented the intimate relationship between 10-year-old skater Blanka and her father Remik, who is also the girl’s coach.
The jury appreciated our ingenuity in breaking the patterns of journalistic storytelling, as well as our sonic imagination. Because above all, we focused on making the story flow through sounds, between the words. We wanted to leave the listener space for reflection, not to suggest judgments. We liked the rawness of the recordings and gave time to read the clues left behind – phonic signs that deepened the meaning of the story being listened to.
The series is still being created, changing its form, breaking through production chaos, looking for distribution places. We hope that soon we will be able to present you all the episodes.
