I spent August 2024 in a tiny town in the south of France, where I participated in a youth exchange. The main theme of our artistic exchange was the feminist revolution.
During my stay, I sang daily in the choir as a soprano. Rehearsals and concerts took place in the stone church, which is also the heart of the village. Our choirmaster was the wonderful Julien Rezak. We sang three concerts, one of which was with the mezzo-soprano duo Delphine Hardin and Karine Deshayes. It was a very moving concert. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience of singing in a group, and since returning from my residency, I’ve been looking for a group where I could continue and develop my singing.
In Menet, I also participated in an exhibition of artwork created during the residency and co-created the graphic identity for the magazine “Rue de L’egalite.” I also participated in the Stomp Femi Manifesto workshop, which culminated in a performance summarizing the residency.
During my stay in Menet, I also organized two workshops for the local community. I spoke about sound art and shared my experience working at Radio Klang. Together with the residency participants, I organized a sound walk that took place at the Menet cemetery.
