In 2024 and 2025, I joined the selectors in the animated film category. The animations I selected were selected by Gabriela Palicka, Paweł Trzepizur, Jacek Wandziel, and Polina Shaptala.

Our task was to select the best animations from over 1,000 works submitted by creators from around the world.

I was looking for a beautifully told story, and as it turns out, finding one in young animation isn’t so easy. Asia remains strong. After seeing the animation, I was left with many thoughts about narrative trends and the role of sound in contemporary productions. I hope that next year’s festival will allow us to discuss this in greater detail in an open, public discussion.

In addition, during the festival, I gave a lecture before the screening of “Run-Up,” which presented the debut short films of students from the Katowice Film School.
